Membership-system -- Discussion of the membership system and its reform

About Membership-system
English (USA)

This mailing list is for all GPEW members who have an interest in or have suggestions for improving the membership systems (in the widest sense) of GPEW, WGP, YG or LPs.

Matters that might be discussed include:

  • the systems of renewal (including contacting members about renewing)
  • accessibility to and access controls on membership databases
  • the synchronisation of different databases
  • data to include about members
  • keeping members in touch with their local party contacts and members
  • restricting access to the WWW sites and mailing lists of the party (using the database)
  • processes for posting newsletters and other information to members
  • deciding or specifying which method to use to contact members
  • ensuring that member data is up-to-date
  • technical implementation of the above and fallback for any electronic systems

NB: You may wish to CC any discussion sent here to a more general list (e.g.: Discussion) as well as relevant membership secretaries and the GPEx Management Co-ordinator until more members are subscribed to this list.

Also, this is not an announcement list, but a discussion list designed for those who wish to contribute and discuss any ideas, problems or suggestions regarding our membership systems. Anyone can post so subscribers may get regular mail.

Also, all posts are currently publicly available in the archive. If you do not want this behaviour, either login to this WWW interface to retrieve the list of subscribers and email them all directly, or tell the list owner why you think the benefits of only having subscribers being able to read the list outweigh the disadvantages.

Current Discussion

Although anything on-topic may be discussed on this list, it would be useful if subscribers would initially suggest problems they may have had with the curent system (or things it does right that should not be changed). If we believe it to be necessary, we can then discuss proposals for a new system and then that system's implementation.

To see the collection of prior postings to the list, visit the Membership-system Archives. (The current archive is only available to the list members.)
